| Apex Techie Wannabe | ahhhhhh.... man i have had a good weekend with spraying my thermaltake tsunami case... it was just laying around and taking up space with an old mobo and stuff.. so i decided to gut it and paint it... GUN METAL GRAY METALLIC laquer based paint... in other words automotive paint.. and it is.. mmm mmm mmm.. lol well first heres what the case looked like.. stock.. ![]() then i primered it with laquer based FLAT HOTROD BLACK... sanded it with 1000 grit sandpaper then WETSANDED with 1200... just to dull the finish even more and to let the paint bond REALLLLLY GOOD with the primer that was laid down...then... i sprayed out of my HVLP gun.. ![]() god they are SO MUCH metallic flake in this paint it is CRAZY... i bought this paint to paint my car with along time ago but changed colors... ANYWHO.. heres the case now after i pulled off all the masking tape and such. notice i kept the chrome around the curve in front.. it looks really classy which is the look i was going for. ![]() the next thing i done is took the parts out of my gaming rig and switched it over this case... and cleaned up a BIG rats nest.. notice the homemade power connectors going to the cd rom drives to eat down of stray loose wires. and the wire zip tie job. (the big wire thats just dangling goes to my door case fan. ![]() then i took some acrylic enamel car paint and painted my thermal take signiture in.. ohh man i think it SIT THIS CASE off... ![]() from the side... ![]() and the front... ![]() tell me whut u all think... | It's a good thing you didn't paint your car with that stuff. It would've looked like a ski-boat! But it looks like you didn't clear-coat it afterwards...all candies, metallics, and pearls need several coats of clear, wet-sanding, and rubbing out with rubbing compound before an eventual polish & wax job, to get that deep, glossy shine. A paint gun makes the job a lot easier and the paint layers more consistent, less prone to sagging & spitting and running, but it's still no substitute for elbow grease. | ||
