PC keeps restarting!

hi all

My problem had occured a few times now. it only happens if my PC goes idle. It goes idle, and i move the mouse to go back on, and it just restarts...!!

help please?

A couple of questions:

1. are you overclocking?

2. What's the OS? Do you have the latest Virus and OS updates installed?

1. i did overclock it... but then the restarting thingy happened and i make it stock again and it's still happening

2. Im using Windows XP! for the virus software, i use AVG free edition (lol) and im updating my OS as soon as i finish typing this and we'll see the results

Hi KiwiFlavor!

Let's see what i can do to help........

First we need to determine whether this is a software or hardware issue.

First things first.........
Click on start, control panel, system, advanced, startup and recovery, and click on settings.
Uncheck automatic restarts and click okay.....
The next time it wants to restart it should give you a bsod instead of restarting....Which should give us an indication as to why its restarting.

Also another thing to check is your bios settings. Make sure any power management settings are set to off.

Give these a shot and let us know what goes on............

Is it overheating? when was the last time you cleaned the CPU and case fans? Is the power supply a good name brand?

for necro = nope it's not overheating, the last time i cleaned my CPU and my case fans was a week ago, and my power supply is Antec Truepower 430W

oh yeah i just installed windows update, and im hoping it wont restart again
