weird HD Problem

hey all

I have an unusual problem on my hands. I have a 280w logitech sorround system and all music is on my 2nd internal 250g western digital drive. It never did this before but when I crank the volume after a short time my computer freezes for a couple seconds. sounds like when you start a song in limewire and the song freezes, but im using WMP. After that my drive is not present but when I restart my pc its fine. ONly when I turn the volume right up it does this. HELP

You mean reading.

I had a similiar problem but on a P3 Laptop. Usually when I tried to browse the internet or open another program it would freeze the music. Problem was resolved when I added more memory. You should put down your system specs so that someone can better help ya.

nvidia fx5200 238mb graphics card
turtle beach sorround sound card.

type/amount of memory?

it sounds like a possible memory issue you may be able to work around that by reducing the amount of excess background programs and processes running

my boot drive is an 80 gig sata just for reference. the WD drive is o nthe same ide cable as my dvd writer because the 2nd ide channel doesnt seem to be working. It seem its just likes to fail and and I always am having to restart the computer for it to show up again in my computer.

I have 1 a gig of ram in there now. Can that really be why my hard drive fails?

Try uninstalling the drive from device manager, then reboot and let it find the driver again. It sounds like a driver issue if you have planty of RAM and the drive disappears until reboot.

the muisc file that you are playing... what drive is it located on?

is it on the one that dissapears?

That info helps us to rule out RAM as a negative factor in trouble shooting.
