Default Mysterious dieing computer

So, my friend asked me to fix his computer, one that we had built just a few weeks past and i was posting about. Seems the thing starts but then dies shortly after. first guess was something wasn't fitte.d.removed all parts..rebled system..reran..exact same result..second guess was that something was overheating...but the radiatior is blowing out not even that warm..so i dont' know fi that could in any way be it...anyone have any oopinions on what might be causing it? any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks!!!

have you taken temp readings, to be sure its not an actual temp issue ??

see if you can run it long enough to install some kind of temp software , or just boot up to bios and watch the temp from there for the CPU and see what happens

If i recall,
I remember posting to another thread about a different problem with this pc. You mentioned that the ram was the issue causing it not to bootup at all.

Let's start off with this......
At what point during the bootup process it decides to shutdown?

Does it turn off or just reboot? Any bsods?

This may shed some light on the situation.........

well it does random things..that's why it's been so hard to place. Right now it doesn't post at all..but given enoguh time to rest it'll run all the way through boot to windows(and for maybee 2 min in windows) and then jsut die.green lgiht still on in the mobo.

Yes iu had taken out the ram and checekd it it seems fine right now...
also should note that after this thing turns fof i haveot power it off and pwoer it abck on (with the green lgiht reset) in order to get it to even respond to the on pulse fromt he button.

If i were you.......here's what id try.....

1. If possible test the ram in another computer and download and run www.simmtester.com
Download and create the bootdisk to run the test
Run it for a few hours to be sure there's no errors. Do it also with one stick at a time. so you dont have to figure out which one is bad if their's a failure.

2. If you by chance have a multimeter test the output on the psu. BTW A flaky psu could give you that intermittent problem where it doesnt want to turn on. So if you have a spare psu give that a shot.
If you do have a multimeter.....post your results on the 3.3, 5, and 12v. Otherwise if you have a spare but not beefy enough, just go with as little attached as possible. Just to get it to bootup.

Of course the best way of diagnosing problems is to swap hardware to determine what part is failing.

I hope this helps.......
I have an itch its either the memory or the psu causing your problem.....but i could be wrong.

i agree with rocking male...

if the temps are all in order... i would next check the powersupply... if you check my signature there are some links to what to check on the psu... amongst other things..
