Default Internet explorer? problems

hi I can not figure this out hopefully some of you have had it or know what could be wrong.

I am running Internet explorer. When I turn on my PC everything works as planned and I am surfing away. Acouple websites I visit every day. If I let the internet explorer window sit with no activity for 5 minutes or so and try entering these sites, some of which are yahoo.com, and MSN.com, it quits working and returns the "page can not be displayed" as if there is no connection. But if I go to other web pages that I dont frequent it still works fine! However, if I go into command prompt and try pinging this same site that I am having problems with it returns everything just fine. But in order to get the pages like yahoo.com to display I have to either powercyle my modem or restart my computer to get it working properly again.

Does anyone have any ideas??? Please!!!

Not a clue about how to solve the problem but you could stop using internet explorer in favour of Firefox or Opera!
