Default WTF got a problem and i have no idea....

Whats up guys.
umm well it started last week my computer is making a buzzing sound threw the litte speaker on the botton of the case it will do this in and off for a few mins then turns the computer off (dosent shut down, just dies) then takes along time to start up it will get half way threw the start up and it dose the same thingi originally thought it was the powersupply but I replaced the powersupply like 15 mins ago and it did the same thing. I think it might be the harddrive i put it last month but im not sure.

Any ideas?
thanks ahead of time

Sounds like you might have some kind of grounding problem. Did you modify your computer in any way right before this started? It could also be an issue of age and some of the components on your mobo may have just worn down.

Check your temps. Buzzing through the case speakers sound like a temp alarm. You may wanna check that your heatsink is seated properly and the thermal goo is on there. Just a thought, from experience.

Is it a beep or a buzz akin to static? If its a static-buzz-hum noise it sounds like a motherboard issue... or... it could be that there is a short in the speaker that is 1) causing the buzz and possibly 2) being picked up by the motherboard as trouble.

I would look at the pin-out of the motherboard -> case bezel and disconnect your speaker... try the system with the case speaker unplugged.

Definatly try starting up with that speaker disconnected, it sounds like feedback from a short circuit someware. If that fails try looking for any other shorted connections.

Masking the alarm by disconrcting the audible alarm speaker will not fix the matter.
I do not propose to know the fix but just silencing the alarm is not the answer.

As is the alarm preceeds a shutdown. disconect the alarm and then what? a silent shutdown?
The end result would be the same.

If I dare to stab a guess maybe a heat or RAM issue?? and ROBs idea of grounding may be valid if the mobo has been moved or removed recently.

But surely if its feedback from the speaker having a short circuit disconnecting it will solve the problem?

But yeah your right it could also be a RAM problem!
