| Alrightythen.... LOL. My CPU is ranging from 60 - 69c daily use, no gaming, no OC'ing. It is a dual core P4 2.8GHZ LGA775 CPU. It has the stock cooler on it, and room is not really an issue in this case (Case of Hope). I have added 3 fans to the case, and that has helped a bit, but not enough. Summer is coming.. I need THE solution. BTW, the pic says 59c because I have the door off the case, otherwise it would read in the 60's. I have read the reviews of many HSF's, so which one is the answer? I have an idea of what is best, but I want some sort of consensus. So, here is your chance to boost your favorite HSF and I'll purchase the one that gets boosted the most. | ||

| The stock heatsink on my 630 couldn't handle overclocking at all and showed pretty much the same numbers as yours. I think that your case temps a a little above average. You need to address that as well - try to get the case temp to the mid-lower 30s. I do not remember what model of Lian-Li the case for hope was, so I can't recommend case fans, but try to have something around 60cfm blowing in and the same amount blowing out. As reference, I have an Antec 120mm and a silverstone 92mm intake fans and a low speed coolermaster 120mm LED fan and a low speed 140mm in my PSU. The heatsinks in Nerdz's post are very good. I would also consider the new ThermalRight tower and the large Zalmans. | ||

| if you are looking for a good cooler that isnt ungodly expensive, this is the one i am using on an Opteron 144 @ 2.25ghz / 1.55vcore, 35C idle, 45C load.... $30 at the Egg... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118112 has worked flawlessly for me, and is almost completely silent... | ||

http://forums.pcapex.com/completed_w...y_project.html I added two fans for the intake, and replaced the exhaust fan with a better one. The temps were in the 60s before, now they are in the 50, so I know that helped. The intake could be an issue, the bezel covers the front fans significantly. I am thinking of having someone mod the front bezel to allow better air flow. Twizted and Loki moded the front bezel (happy b-day Loki!). I'm thinking about asking one of them to further modify it for the front fan flow. My first concern though is the CPU.... sitting idle at 60c isn't good.

| I have a 3.2Ghz single core 775 with stock cooler and my temps are high but not as high as yours.... I too will be taking suggestions from this thread but for the meantime, have you checked for dust in the heatsink? I know dust caused my temps to go up about 5C before I blew it away | ||

Aerocool GT1000 And the best I know of; ![]() Yup... it's mean, it's big, it's the Noctua!!! TDR

| The Zalman 7000AlCu didn't impress me a hell of a lot. It got pretty hot when I tried to OC (load over 60, on a 3200+ winchester at 2500MHz), and it wasn't noticably cooler than the stock sink at stock MHz. For 30 bucks it was poor value IMO. Maybe it does better on a P4 though. | ||

| Personally, I would go for an all copper heatsink, in this case, the Zalman CNPS-7700 (Linky - http://www.xoxide.com/zalman-7700-cu-cpu-cooler.html) would be good, or Thermaltake Big Typhoon (another linky - http://www.xoxide.com/thermaltake-big-typhoon-hsf.html), both of which are absolute monsters, and you might have a bit of trouble in a mid-tower. the CNPS-7000 (linky - http://www.xoxide.com/zalman-7000b-c...pu-cooler.html) might be a good option if you are looking for a decent size. If you have more vertical space (and cash) then the Zalman CNPS-9500 might be a good option (yet another linky - http://www.xoxide.com/zalman-cnps9500-led-cooler.html) Just from what I hear, those are some of the best. Ask other people about fanless designs... me not a big fan of fanless. | ||

Lol, ask the reviewers... (BA, GK, HTRN, ask around, you'll find them.) good luck with your purchase.

| I have a ThermalRight XP-90 with an Enermax 92mm fan. My CPU is overclocked from 3GHz to 3.75GHz and I am running F@H 24/7. My case temps a little above the average - 35C and my CPU is at around 58C. I had used the stock Intel HSF and it gave me about the same numbers at stock speed. I have never tested the non-overclocked temps with the XP-90, but I am guessing that they would be at least 5C better than the stock HSF. I am not sure but I think that you can put a larger exhaust fan in the back of the case. Look at silverstone's line of fans - they have a 92mm fan that uses a 80mm fan mounting holes (thats what I did for my side intake - because I couldn't cut the side panel window). Maybe some other members can post their experience with the top of the line heatsinks. | ||

| I do have a thermal take, but not the typhoon. The one I have is the volcano 12+ extreme. They make a socket A version and a socket 745/939 one too (sorry I dont know Intels equivalents to those chips) My athlon (socket A, yea Im still rockin it) is at 2.3Ghz, at 1.696V, and at 2860RPMs (a smidge below the medium setting) It cools my chip down to 36 to 38C. At full setting (like 7000RPMs It stays at 36C even under full load. My case temp is around 22-23C. | ||

| I have a Thermalright SI-97, use it on an Athlon XP... even with a slow turning fan temps are like 10-15 degrees lower than the stock cooler. A good friend of mine uses the SI-120 on his Prescott PIV, he's not really into "silent pc's" so he justs runs his Pabst 120mm fan at 12v... Which is a bit much for me, sound wise,....but it works! If you want I'll ask him exactly what processor he's got and what his temps on idle/load are... TDR | ||

Thanks, I have already read the reviews. There are too many to choose from though. I want real world experience to help guide my decision.
