case questions

ok i was lookin around at some cases and i noticed these things at the bottom of the case... what are they and what does one use them for? and also... looking at the 5.25 bays i see that there is no holes or anything to screw in the roms or w/e youd want to put in the bays... how does one mount things inside of the 5.25 bays on this type of case? i see the holes and everything are there for the 3.5 bays... any input on these case questions would be nice

The case you have there is an Antec, Chieftec, or related case. Those things on the bottom are side rail holders for your drives so you don't lose them. You mount the rails to the side of your drives and they pop right in and out, no messing around with screws. Actually a real nice touch to an already real nice, if overdone, case.

Don't feel bad for not knowing man, I just got done building a computer with one of those type cases, and I wondered the same damn thing. I'd even put the drives in and closed up the case before the lightbulb in my head finally went on.

First time I built a case with rails, I actually was lucky enough to have read a coupla reviews on similiar cases beforehand...

So I knew what I was gettin' into ;-)

All the cases at my IT technical college used rails and hot-swappable removeable hard drive bays. Two of my favorite case "accessories" ever I think.

Hell, the server I was using had a swappable hard-drive, but it never got taken out as we didn't have another hard-drive on hand to replace it.

I wish we would have, woulda been kinda cool to be able to have taken a back-up of some of the stuff with me to the companies second location...

If you are looking at buying one of these cases Fire, I think you will like it. i have a Cheiftec mid tower and I love it. LOTS O' ROOM, solid build and no sharp edges. and the drive rails are great. No removable mobo tray though, but I haven't really needed to take my mobo out once I put it in.
