Default Data Recovery Assistance please...

Well, this is what happened. I was working on a PC which needed some data taken off it, so we stuck the hard drive in a USB caddy thingy mabobby. I opened up the root and went into my computer. I was working on a strange computer so I thought that the E:/ was a partitition on the computer hard drive... But noo, it was actually the removable drive.

So I create a folder on e:/ for the back up and drag and drop. Then I some "move" message (I think it was something about moving a "read only" file), I didn't really read it so I pressed "cancel" as a reflex to look into the problem. So I go back into root, and theres no more "my documents" folder, and it hadn't been moved into the backup folder either...

Any idea if it could have been stored in a temp file somewhere, like some cache memory or anything? Weird that pressing cancel to a process would completely remove the source folder like that, seems like a flaw like that would have been solved by now...

Any help is appreciated

What Sk8 said, and in the meantime, do as little as possible with that drive! You don't wanna risk writing new data over the "free space" where your deleted files are.

Thumbs down

we tried 2 proggys on the both drives. These were GetDataBack and Easy Recovery. Couldn't find any it with those, I doubt other programs would have anymore luck. Was just hoping that they would be in some cache memory...

Thanks for the effort
