Default PC Lock Up! Argh!

Ok, it seems ever since I added my video card I get...somewhat frequent lockups. As soon as I got it I played Doom3 for 25 hours straight no problems. But when I went to warcraft 3 The frozen throne, it started to lock up and reboot itself. It isnt a cooling issue, nothing in my case gets above 40 C ever. And I'm pretty sure its not a power supply issue, the card recommends a 350 Watt and I have a 450 Watt. Any suggestions?

More info needed.

If you're psu is descent then it comes down to driver issues. Sometimes reseating the card can help too.

Did you completely remove the old video drivers.
If so Im going to say heat issue on the gpu, take of the case side panel and see if it helps.
Maybe reapply the thermal paste .
are there any Pci cards blocking the Gpu fan intake?

can you run a benchmark utility ,and then quikly check the Gpu temp? that would help..
exactly what card are you using?

Well the thing that I have infront of the card is a Spectrum PCI Fan card, but that wouldn't block the intake..would it? It should increase it... my card is a PNY Geforce 6800 GS.
Drivers Removed: Yes
Where can I get a benchmarking utility that isn't abnormally large in file size >.> thermal paste wouldnt be an issue...the card is less than a month old... I played all day today and it only locked up twice... and I checked the temp on it threw the card and it said 41... so... I'm not sure that temp is a problem... Im guessing power supply... Its just somthing cheap that came with my case...

Even if it's not the problem you need to get that nasty power supply out of there.

Yeah, I agree. I didn't think about that when I built my comp... I'll replace the power supply soon and see if thats the issue. Hopefully thats all it is...

Well while you're waiting you could try closing everything else down and running the game that's giving you trouble.

I should add that on a previous installation I kpet getting blue screens during games. Closed msn messenger of all things and the blue screens stopped.

That's just my experience obviously, but I figure it'll give you something to try.

Yeah Ill try to find that later. I have everything closed in the background. I actually don't think that the power supply isn't putting off enough power, I think that because of all of my, fans/Lighting are sucking up the juice. When I turn off the lights, and take off one fan and use a convention home fan to blow inside the case instead, it almost never locks up. So I'm guessing I just need a power supply with 550+ Watts to keep all my thingys humming. =)
