need help please

well i bought new DVD-R's yesterday and when i try burning some of my important stuff today..i cant burn it...apparently my DVD RAM cant read it..no matter what i do..it just keeps on saying "No Disc"

so what i do now is i go and try to install the drivers instead of using the windows default drivers...i got it to work..but i have to burn a lot of stuff so when i tried to burn disc 2...it said "No Disc" again... i tried reupdating my drivers and everything and it still cant detect it now..

please someone help me..can someone make my dvd burner work?!?!?!

It might be something as simple as a cable, I'd try swapping it out if you have a spare. How old is your drive?

What are the specs of the drive? It may be incompatible disks. I know that on the Memorex disks I've bought recently there is a warning about needing to upgrade certain drives firmware before they'll work.
