Unhappy avg slow running

my wife has avg 7 (free) on her pc but for some reason it takes approx 1hr 15 mins to do a full scan.i know this is way too long but i dont know why.i have done an online scan with trendmicro and have found no viruses.anyone else have this prob?.i use avg 7 and have never had this prob.it has on started taking this long from a cuople of weeks ago.this is her system

msi k7n2 delta m/b(socket a)
xp1800 @ stock
1x256 ddr333 ram
60g seagate hdd

any help would be appreciated.

Since you didn't mention it, I will assume she is running Windows XP, is this correct?
At any rate, while 256MB of RAM is considered the minimum for XP, at least 512MB is recommended.
Try sticking your RAM in there (heh, yeah I know) and see if the scan goes faster.

AVG usually takes about two hours to scan all 300GB of files across my 340GB of HD space spanned between two SATA drives and a smaller (80GB) IDE. I figured it was quite acceptable.

Yeah, it takes a good 1.5 hrs. to scan 370gb in my rig with AVG.......

Yah need some more memory in that rig of yours........

sorry i forgot to mention that she is running win xp.this is the story.i have repaired,cleaned,upgraded and built a lot of pc's over two years-but as soon as i get anywhere near hers it throws a fit(i am not kidding).nothing goes right.so as a safety precaution i dont go anywhere near the bloody thing.so i will have to get someone in to add more ram.life must go on
