Try plugging into a different sata slot (although that probably won't work, just a heads up) try looking for S-ATA listing within the bios, you will most likely need to enable them.

Post specs as soon as possible, somebody with your same motherboard will be able to help.

You will need to get the drivers for your SATA device from the mobos manufacturers website for that mobo. After you install those you should see your drive just fine.

there is a minute or so when the boot CD for xp install comes up when it says hit F6 for SCSI drivers, you want to hit F6 and have the drivers on a Floppy disk.

Here is a link to the website's page. You can get the SATA drivers there and put them onto a floppy yourself.

The SATA drivers are at the bottom of the page.

I'm not sure why but the newer Asus boards don't come with sata drivers on a floppy. They are on the CD, so explore the cd and find the drivers you need and put them on the floppy. Then install windows and don't forget to push F6.
