| Ok, so i have been working on this for awhile. Well since yesterday. I installed the game, went into it, got my account retrieved and logged in. Then it crashed, i closed it out and rebooted. And after which it would not longer let me back in. The BF2 splash screen would pop up, go full screen for a second then close completely out. At this point i figured a video driver corruption. I uninstalled the old, reinstalled it, and the same thing. Uninstalled the game, uninstalled the video driver. reinstalled my video driver. reinstalled the game. still the same thing. so i figure i better start fresh. i reinstalled windows. i have to use XP SP2 for the bluetooth keyboard. i get back into windows. install all my drivers. then try to install the game. and it does the same thing. splash screen comes up game goes full screen for a second and then closes completly out. i am completly lost as to what to do. and i cant find any information about this. i always patch right after i get the game installed and rebooted. the patch to 1.01. and my hardware meets requirements of the game. P4 3.0GHz (prescott) XFX 6800GT 2gigs of Crucial XMS Platinum 2-2-2-5 like i said, i am lost. | ||

| Well the lastest drivers are much needed and you are not up to date with the patches my friend as well. Lets see...Got to here and dl the 1.02 patch. YOU MUST install the 1.01 patch first. So this after the lastest NV drivers as well. Try Omega too, some have had good luck with them. Another note, if you run SATA HD's install the game on the primary set. For example, I run 4 HD's, 2 Raid O's, one for speed, one for storage. The game crashed for me alot on my storage HD's to I just reinstalled it on my raptors and all is freeking great. Could it be your copy of the game? BTW, this game loves and will take advantage of super fast HD's. I am the FIRST one in the game almost everytime and that allows me to get in any vehicle I want before anyone else can! ![]() Last edited by SpikeShot; 05-August-05 at 01:24 AM.. | ||

| Um, not sure about this, but since it's related, I figured I'd post it here... I've heard that the 1.01 patch was buggy, and that the 1.02 was supposed to fix the problems that 1.01 was supposed to fix... Also the reason the 1.01 patch was pulled from EA's DL servers... And that anyone who had installed 1.01 should uninstall the game and start fresh, wait for 1.02, and then install it (without 1.01). Can anyone confirm/deny this, please? | ||

As far as I know, the 1.01 patch is required for full operation before you can install the 1.02 patch. Come on guys, if everyone of us has this game working something is missing. Last edited by SpikeShot; 05-August-05 at 01:25 AM..

| Ok.....I checked my sources where I Admin for some servers and came up with some possible solutions........This for Nvidia cards only (seems most of the ATI users are not having much crashing problems as the Nvidia users). 1. Make sure your video setting are on "Hardware"......not "Software"......Also, try your sound card settings to "Software" instead of "Hardware", as there seems to be some issues with SB cards. 2. Try using the 77.30 drivers that came on your CD, not the downloads 3. If your using a "Wide-Screen" monitor, that's going to be a MAJOR issue. No fix right now. 4. Refrain from using 64 player servers, most of those servers are NOT up to the task. Play on 16-32 player servers for now. EDIT: and of course install all the latest patches. EDIT AGAIN: I did a lil more research and found that BF2 is REAL sensitive to OC'ing......so if your OC'ing alot, maybe bring it down a notch or two.... | Ok.... After fresh installing, i installed the newest drivers off the nvidia site and also the drivers that are located off the disk. It can load into the game once. But when i try to go back into the game is when its does what it does. Newest chipset drivers, previous chipset drivers. Nothing seems to affect it. As well as changing around settings for video and sound card. Anything else guys? | ||

| you have to delete the user profiles in the ea direcotry....I had the same problem on my brother's computer which I just fixed...a normal uninstall will not get rid of the settings that are causing the problem. That is if your having the same problem I was at the time....NUKE The EA battlefield directory...start with a new installation. If that doesn't work your problem was completely unrelated to mine but it certainly sounds the same. | ||

| Ok, so since none of my systems will play this game. I am getting very frustrated. All of my systems meet minimum requirements. As well as passing all of the requirements in the EAsyInfo menu. I am still stumped as to what is going on. I cant play this game and i want too. If i cant figure it out. I will trade off my paid subscription to the server to someone. I need a new pair of Networking Cable Crimpers. (If GK will allow it)(I signed up pretty much the day after it was announced that you could get a subscription, so you can go off that date to get an idea of the time left) | ||

| If it is crashing at the videos, you could follow the instruction at http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html to clear out the videos, and maybe follow some of the other tweaks to soop things up. That's my best suggestion. | ||

Ok lets start from scratch. Post your PC specs, your drivers as is. Your patches, your install location. After that we shall all look one more time before we give up. If everyone got it to work you should too...thats just not fair.
