Need iTunes 4.8...

Ok so here's the scoop. Windows was a little more fux0red than normal, so i figured it was about time to do my bi-anual install of the demented piece of crap the world calles an OS... SOOOO... I back everything up, in iTunes 4.8 I grabbed everything in 'program files' and 'my music' (i dont have music in there though..)

So... Fresh install, everythings great ya know? Then I go to download iTunes... and its 4.9 now.. so when i drag and the older stuff on it things dont work out quite right... I get a registry error...

So does anyone have a copy of iTunes 4.8?

why dont u just install 4.9 and leave it at that ?, i dont see the problem

All my playlists, favorites, playcounts, iPod home library, etc are all backed up in 4.8

Since everything is gone when i try to drop those files on it, it causes iTunes to die...

EDIT: Also when I try to install over the older files, I get a registry error and some things in iTunes dont work...

ive been lookign on google for ya and cant find anything, i tihnk your last chance would have to be to use a file sharing program and download it form there which should be completly legal

Ok, when I installed iTunes 4.9 over 4.8, i got some error after the install stating that the install itself could not be completed. iTunes 4.9 still worked fine. Anyways I completely uninstalled iTunes 4.8 including removing all files from the Temp folder and installed it again. Worked fine.....oh and all my playlists, playcounts, everything were still there. Try that.

WHOA was it a error 1608? And then it says something about registry files for burning CD's and DVD's were not installed?

I dont even see iTunes under add/remove programs...

If you want to be truly safe, then install 4.8 Get it from Hojo or neotheducky who say they have it. I personally didnt' care about my playcounts/playlists, but i was pleasantly surprised to see that they survived. Anyways good luck to ya.

I haven't forgoten about you. The problem I'm running into is that even zipped it's a 19 meg file and I can't email anything larger than 10 meg with any of my accounts. If anyone knows of a free email service that allows file attachments that large let me know. Even g-mail limits you to 10 meg.

I think I have a compy of 4.8 on the cd that came with my ipod...but sheesh..nothing made by apple seems to install on this thing :S

Thanks everyone, I got it from Neotheducky. It's still fubar, but it works. I just cant burn CD's or something... Windows is pretty messed up and I have no clue why, i just installed it, and havent 'tweaked' it.

Same thing happened with me. I installed 4.8 that came with CD, then it said if I wanted to download latest iTunes. So I did. Then it would not even read that my iPod was connected. And everytime I tried to uninstall iTunes, my computer would freeze. Apple is sabotaging Bill Gates.

For some free music (no spyware/ considered file sharing) go to WinMX.com. Download the application and fill out stuff (no names or IP addy's in form just Connection speed an nickname). Then download, all free!
