Default Calling All Pimps (cell phone users, that is)

I've got a weird issue going on...

Whenever either my wife or I have an incoming call on our cell phones, her speakers start to crackle and pop just a second or two before the phones start ringing. Mine do nothing at all... I never had this problem when the mobo in her computer was in my machine, so I think it's her speakers...

Can anyone verify this, or at least help me figure out how to make this stop (besides having her wear headphones, that is...)

They are Altec Lansings, little 2.1 system I found on sale at Staples here a few weeks ago. I didn't think anything of it, since the 4.1 system I have on my rig is an AL as well, never gave me any problems...

Any workarounds for this that anyone knows of?

EDIT: I understand the concepts of electronic/electromagnetic interference, the thing is, the phones are downstairs, even out in the car(s) when it happens the least. When they are in the house with us, much less right next to you on the desk, the speakers sound like a herd of banshees screaming through...

EDIT EDIT: I've been trying to tell folks that for a few years now Thrasher, they just don't believe me...

At work and at home I can tell when a call is coming in from the monitor. One is a CRT and the other is an LCD. The CRT gets static on right before a call and the LCD flickers for a second. I carry two Motorola phones, one for work and my personal one, and the work one which is much more up to date causes the worse noise.

Mine do the same thing actually when IÂ’m some where i can't have my phone go off at all I have a pen i made out of a flashing antenna from a v60i thereÂ’s enough energy created my the signal a phone puts off when making receiving or just talking, now i have had to give it a little energy boost just to give it a better range. What ticked me off is i spent probably 15 bucks making this pen because I was bored and you can find them on ebay for like 5 bucks. Mine has a better range though (like 3 feet) give it a try some time.

Cell phones definitely have some sort of outgoing signal; my uncle who died of a brain tumor, of an undisclosed reason, blamed it on cell phones.

If my phone is laying beside my CRT monitor, when I get a call the screen will 'jitter'. I think that's all your experiencing, some sort of crosstalk or whatever between the signals in your speakers and your cell phones.

Are you using unshielded audio wire? If the GSM signal is strong enough with the unshielded wire it will be much worse. Some phone models may make it more so than others too. But the speaker wire should be checked. Maybe try using 2-wire w/ coaxial shield

I live in a little bit of a low area so it's tuff to get a signal at times. So when I leave in my truck and I have the cell you can hear it sending signals without talking on the phone through my speakers.

I have nextel with a motorola I860.
right before the phone rings,I'll hear a couple of seconds worth of clicking through any amplified speaker I'm near.
gives me time to grab the phone

Dunno about the wire, it's the one(s) that came with the speakers. Basically, the subwoofer plugs into the wall (power cord), and the speakers are permanently attached to each other with 1/4" thick cables, then the main speaker plugs into the subwoofer with a cable whose terminal looks kinda like an old mouse plug (pre-OS2)...

My stereo/amp downstairs doesn't have any sort of interference, nor do the monitors on either computer... Hmmm, guess she needs new speakers for her birthday....

My monitor (crt) is about a year old and does a little flicker and goes beep-ba-beep when there is an incoming call on one of the cell phones.

My girls and I just laugh because the monitor will do this and I say ".....someones phone is gonna ring........" they both grab their phones and wait for it to ring. It never fails, one of them rings.

My old speakers crackled just before a call but my new ones don't. Don't remember the name of them.....$20 tard-mart special.

When your phone has a signal it will kinda ping your phone companys tower asking for messages and my phone even has to have a signal to tell me the freaking time.
