| Hey everyone. For the past few months, I have used the Windows task scheduler as my alarm clock. What I do is set an mp3 file to play in the morning....some people probably do this. Anyways, i have decided to change the song....unfortunately, after i browsed to the song file and typed in my password, I get an error message saying: An error has occured while attempting to set task account information The specific error is: 0x8007007a: The data area passed to a system call is too small Why is this happening after so many months Now this has been the best alarm clock i've had in my entire life, and I dont exactly want to spend money buying a program to do this. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem? ![]() | ||

| I would reset the password and account information of the account your using to run the task, what format are you using for the account? "computername/username"? I would also say that this problem stems from a recent update of the scheduler in order to prevent viruses from sleeping in the scheduler or retrieving account information from commonly scheduled tasks. I've had a few repairs the last few weeks for this problem...and when i see it on more than one computer it probably has something to do with windows updating itself or a common virus (no viruses this time around). I haven't figured out the root problem yet, but I fix it by doing a shotgun type fix on the computers (by shotgun i mean trying everything I can think of and hoping it fixes the problem). The stuff I do is as follows. 1.) change password for desired runtime account 2.) check for updates to windows (although i suspect this is where the problem originated form *the last big security patch*) 3.) simplify the name of the file being opened. 4.) reschedule or recreate the scheduled task. | ||

| Well, a little Google Search will never hurt: · http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;246865 · http://www.jsifaq.com/SUBM/tip6200/rh6272.htm -> Looks very helpful. · http://www.wizardscc.com/task_scheduler_0x8007007a.asp I'm sure you can find your solution in one of those three links. | ||

| lol I've been doing google searches. It probably was due to windows updates :S Found an answer on another site and tried my own thing. Maybe this info will help other pimps and pimpettes When you encounter this error, try this: 1) Log on as administrator 2) Open Scheduled Tasks 3) Delete the task that gives you the error message on your account 4) Restart the computer and schedule your task again Worked for me I hope. Didn't receive the error message.....we'll see tomorrow morning if it wakes me up lol Thanks for the help ![]() | ||
