Arrow Photoshop lines

Yeah, so I'm a noob at photoshop and I used the pen tool in photoshop to add two lines (and layers) to my existing jpeg. When I save it and go to my pictures to look at the result, neither of the new lines are present. Could someone help me?

Once you create the lines with the pen tool you need to go to the paths pallete and stroke the path. Adding a stroke to the path will create a line with what you already have set up for color and width in the pencil or brush tool.

A much easier way to create a straight line is use the pencil tool or brush tool and define the size and color of the brush. Then click a single point where you want the line to start, don't hold down just click once. Then move the tool to where you want the line to end. Then while holding down the shift key click again and you'll create a perfectly straight line.

When I go to the paths bar, the option to "stroke path with brush" is greyed out so I can't do it

In the second set of options on the tool bar for the path tool select the center or "paths" option, then you can stroke the path.
