Default Outlook 2003 auto email check problem

Ever since installing Outlook on this system I am unable to have Outlook automatically check my email every xx number of minutes. The email accounts work great but that auto check feature simply doesnt ever trigger.

Has anyone else ever seen this before and/or know a fix?

GK, try going to MS and doing a Office Update. I know there are a schmit load of updates for Office 2003. I do it every day to one of two PC's at work.

I installed the latest updates (all seem to be small things since I usually update regularly) and still the same thing. It won't auto check.

GK, ya gotta set it up...

Click Tools, Options
Click "Mail Setup" tab
Click "Send & Receive Settings" button

Set your desired parameters in there, and voila! All should be well.

Just covering the basics...then we move on to more in-depth stuff.

HAHA Yeah PJ I already had it setup... I'm a tech support buy remember.

FeRaL: Outlook kix too much booty to not use it. I am WAY too embedded to leave it regardless.

mrcracker: where would I find that log?

I don't need the portability... I have about 4000 or so emails sitting in my Outlook at any given time. I like the back up and organization features of Outlook. THe latest Oulook has the best organizing features of any email app I have seen to date.

True dat!

My wife hates webmail, so I am going to be hooking her up with a 512MB USB Flash drive to bebop around with.

eventvwr.exe from the command line is the quickest way to get there. Then look at the application log to see if Outlook is registering errors when it should be running the automated check. May be there, may not, but it's one area to check. Sometimes programs will put all sorts of info in there...
