| Used to use a screensaver all the time. Changed them to match my desktop themes every week. That is till I found out about how much resource it uses. That and the idea that it was only there and running, when I was away from the computer. So I stopped using them, and just have my screen go off if I am away. Or turn the monitor off all together. So I was curious how many people use screensavers? If you do or don't, would you explain why you do or don't use one? What benefits you see to using or not using them? Thanks ![]() | ||

| I used to use the simple ones back in the 90's when they were actually needed to prevent screen burn-in. After that, they all started to look the same (there were a few cool ones, but the cool ones needed so many resources, they would lock up my PC). Now that I have computers that can run the cool ones, I'd rather use all available resourses for Folding. | ||

| I don't use a screensaver, just because I don't really want one. I think they're more of an annoyance than anything. For instance...I'll be reading a book for homework for an english paper or something...then the Windows XP logo will start bouncing around the screen.
I only lock my computers because I don't want my parents screwing up my PC's with their lack of knowledge... | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I don't use a screen saver and for password protection this is what I do. This works for WinXP: 1. Click on Start. 2. Click on Log Off "Your username" 3. Click on Switch User When you click on your username it will ask you for a password. This works if you have a password associated with your account. I find this to be more secure because there are many ways to get around typing in the correct password for screensavers. My method doesn't use up any additional resources and all the services and applications are still running in the background. | ||
