| It could be an overheating problem - if your temps are high. It also could be poor voltage, the basis for a rock solid PC is a quality power supply, cases rarely come with decent power supplies. Overrated and underpowered but they are essentially free. They have their uses but not in a power hungry rig. It could also be a windows error message and by default Windows is set to reboot on error. Go into System Properties (right click on my computer and go to properties), then the Advanced Tab, then click on Startup and Recovery Settings. There uncheck Automatically Restart. Now if there is an error message you will see it instead of a restart. You may find your just have a bad driver, corrupt file or are in need of an OS reinstall. Check some of these out and get back to us. | ||

| ok here are my specs: Amd 2500+ 1.83g (OCed to 2800+ 2.10 g) 512 ddr ram geforce xfx 5200 128mb vid 2x 160g HDs dvd rom cd rom umm..+ a total of 8 fans i think thats it! oh yea maybe an over heat problem cuz there is a temp reader in the front of the case and it used to be usally around 70-90 F but now its reading 110-120 F and thats inside the case. i ignored it cuz i thought it was messed up till i got this problem. and the only thing i chaged is the direction of the air flow of my exhust fans from in to out thas all. -2 fans in front in -1 fan side in -1fan top -out -2 rear out ??? | ||

| You've got dual hard drives, dual optical drives, and a ton of fans. 350 is just not enough watts to handle all that. Also, you should check your BIOS to see what your default overheat protection is set at. It may be an overheating problem, but even if that's the case, you're still playing with fire with that PSU. Your OC is not that high, for this setup, so I'm not sure why you should be getting such high temps. What HSF do you have? Last edited by jedco; 20-November-04 at 10:50 AM.. | ||

I thought so too jedco, but this happed jus after i reinstalled my windows and the tems chaned even in bios my cpu used to be around 38 C and now around 48-49 C and i know thats bad i dont think PSU has anything to do with temp change cuz i had the same specs B4 and the tems were normal

| You're right that the PSU has little to do with the temps. I'm saying that even if your problem has nothing to do with the PSU, you are still running yours in the red. I've blown too many PSU's in my time, and when they go, they tend to take other parts with them. What HSF are you using? | ||

| For your setup, I think anything over 420 watts should be fine. Get yourself an nice thermalright hsf and you should be okay, for temps. Any time you have problems of this kind, you should take your oc down and try it then, just to start from a solid base. I would also unplug all devices that you don't need this moment, just for testing purposes. | ||

| JimsZR2, I don't know anything about CompUSA branded PSU's, but I'm going to take a wild stab and say that they probably are nothing special. I would suggest you look at NewEgg for your PSU, because it will cost a lot more to get one from FrozenCPU (although, they do a great job with their pre-modded PSU's). | ||

| going back to the problem at hand. can you run the monitor under a full load. maybe your HSF isnt seating right and when you go into a full load, your temps spike.
thats not a bad one, relatively nice. not my choice for brands.
