Exclamation bypassing bios password?!!

My boyfriend just bought an older HP from a friend, Nothing fancy just somethin to give his dad to play on. But the person he bought it from put a password on the bios and cant remember what it is. Is there any way to bypass it? Would just flashin the bios work? If anyone can help i would really appreciate it!

However there are some people who are uncomfortable going in the comps. Just for future reference for them. Unplug the power cable for a night. Batery power drains and when battery is drained its just like you unplugged it. But unplugging the bat. is still way faster.

Uhh, dude...

I have an AMD K-5 I left sitting in my garage for roughly 6 months without it ever being turned on. It still retained my BIOS settings. those batteries usually last 'bout 3 years...

Then I must have a few defective bateries. Because I have found that on some of the older systems it does indeed work. And yet on some systems i have found it does not. Ive never seen it work on new system but i have quite a few old p2 systems pass through my house in past year and it worked on about 3/4 of them, unplug eat dinner, come back, prob solved.

lol yah but come on, any one should know that the ONLY way to reset a bios is to remove the battery! or clear the bios VIA jumper

and exactly how old are we talking about here?
like old enough to know that you can't reset a bios by unpluging it?

If it is old enough you can bypass it by typing AWARD_SW all caps. This works on the older computers.
