Angry Video card/OS/ driver problem?

Hi, i am having a whole frick load of problems since ive upgraded video cards. you may laugh at my specs but i dont care...it plays the games (once the dam thing works)...

Chaintech 7AJA2E Mobo
Duron 1ghz
320 mb ram
2 40 gb hd's
XFX GeForce 5700 le 128mb
Soyo Raptor 400 watt psu
windows xp sp2

Ok, heres the problem im having...ive partially had this problem with my old geforce 3 but that went away when i installed the display driver from windowsupdate.com. What happens is i will open halo, it will sometimes play the movies, sometimes not(freezes up) and then i have to restart. Otherwise it will load to the menu and then freeze. This also happens with Battlefield 1942. Strangely it doesnt with Battlefront and call of duty. any ideas?

Sorry bro, that hardware is way out of date. If you want some quick fixes the first thing I would do is up the RAM. The second thing I would do is up the CPU. I believe your PS is fine.

That power reading is within spec - its a little low but its still within spec. Did you do a fresh install when you changed your graphics card?? I realise its not necessary but its the FIRST thing I suggest you try if your using a "not so fresh" install - Masengil will not help restore that "fresh" feeling............spend a couple hours and eliminate that as a problem.

I did not try a fresh install. The strange thing now is that this morning before school i turned on my computer and halo was working fine....I dont want to do a fresh install but i can if i have to....but i dont see why it would be required if it worked fine this morning. Could it be a cooling issue?
