| I am trying to connect to my fileserver from my wireless connection. Now my wireless connection sits inside the firewall at 192.168.3.14 And the fileserver sits outside the firewall at 192.168.2.11 So I am trying to connect across Subnets from one class C network to another. I have tried setting up the NAT port trigger systems but they can only send the 'triggered event' to a system inside the Wireless Router firewall(ip 192.168.3.*) I have also tried numerous configurations of the DNS/WINS Naming architectures to traverse across networks, but that was unsuccessful as well(fileserver.otherrouter.wirelessrouter). Can anyone help me get access to my fileserver from my Wireless connected laptop? Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone? -Thanks | ||

| have you tried using a DHCP server, using DNS (routers service), and just connecting the client to a server via Domain architecture? (also allow windows to detect automatically DNS and IP unless you need them, otherwise, you can assign a seperate IP and DNS for that connection alone) administrate the firewall and allow connections to and from IP# 192.168.2.11 and forward any ports that might be needed, being wireless shouldnt have anything to do with it.... what server OS you running? im not as concerned with how to connect the two as i am with what fixing this will break in the process, otherwise, the answer is as simple as administrating your router / access point, and judjing from your first post, you sound more than capable of doing that :S Last edited by Fu3lman; 31-October-04 at 12:30 PM.. | ||

WOoooowwww It works, sorta. The 255 part was listed as an undefined parameter by the program. Is there a website or something that lists all those nice little command lines you probably know? I seem to have nothing regarding them in my THREE network+ training books, go figure Can the "hostname localGateway" syntax be used in say Internet Explorer URL space as well? I tried it but it is erratic as whether it works or not. Can the IP/octet numbers be replaced with the hostnames? And if so the hostnames in question to be used would be WINS or DNS? -Thanks ![]() Last edited by Hurt Me Plenty; 31-October-04 at 06:03 PM.. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| It works now, If you are in the command prompt you can type 'route /?' (minus the paratheses) and windows will list the full list of arguments for the command. As a side note: you WILL need to use the IP address octets, however you can use the netbios names if you have setup the "computer names" with the IP addresses in your HOSTS file located in the "C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc" Once again thanks for the pointing the way Napalm. Anyone know how to change Windows telnet administration options? I want to be able to log in as another user, than the one I am logged in as on the localhost. Anyone? | ||
