Default Issue with my NF7-S

I Bought this motherboard, and a chenbro case with the front auxilary jacks with USB, FireWire, Mic, and headphones port. I got all my necessary cables hooked up from the Mobo to the front chip that supports my Auxilary ports. I got the USB working, But I can't get the headphones or Mic to work. I know the NF7-s has onboard sound which I have disabled. I am running a SB 512 for my PCI sound card. Is So my question is that if the onboard sound is disabled My front Aux port for headphones won't work?

Thanks gang!

Jim

The onboard panel-out audio headers are only active when the onboard audio is enabled.

My question is, why the hell are you using SB 512 for sound when you have
what would be the equivalent of a Audigy 1.5 right on your motherboard?

When I first had Onboard it was all crackly and choppy on the sound when gaming. Guess I should try it again!!

d00d, don't diss Nvidia Sound Storm 5.1, it freaking rocks and I love it on my board. i have the A7N8X-E Deluxe and the NF2 boards are one of the few motherboards out there with decent onboard sound.

I never had that problem in my gaming so i think your audio cables may be bad.

i'm using an NF7-s rev.2 and logitech Z-640 speakers. When i first hooked them up to the onboard sound, i had some issues. It turns out that Abit dorked up the color coding on the audio jacks (again, a BIG thank you to all of the Pimps who helped me on that one). For my speakers to work, the black plug goes in the yellow jack, and the yellow plug goes in the black jack (green plug goes to green jack).

I have it working quite well right now. I am about to test some games and so far just listening to a CD it sounds a bit better than the 512. But the headphones still dont work on my front aux. ports. hmmmm.

I still have issues with the OnBoard. I will be in the middle of the game and all of a sudden the sound will get scratchy and fuzzy sounding. So far I'm disliking it because my 512 would pump out more bass and never gave me issues.

Do you have any of those CPU "cooling" programs like CPUidle? They cause the problems you are describing.

There are several different BIOSes available for the NF7-S, have you tried a different one perhaps?

I have not tried anything like that. Is there a guide in the manual on how to do it?
