| So heres what im having trouble with. So I have 2 shiney new SATA Drives (Thanks Kalash & Zeak!!!) now what? I got them plugged in and "functional"..... the RAID driver portion of my bootup came past, i hit ctrl-F like it asked me to, did the "auto detect" option, it found 2 80 gig drives and I selected "performance" and it registered the "array" as a combo of 2 80 gig drives representing 160 gigs of space yada yada.... I save the array as such, and reboot. I enter the BIOS to set it up to boot from CD, pop in my XP CD, reboot and it goes through this exercise where it says something like "nVidia synch-boot" and then it detects my IP address and DHCP info and then sits there with nothing..... no option to install windows, the BIOS on boot doesnt recognize the presense of ANY hard-drive... In a sense, Im totally flabbergasted. Help. Im currently operating off of my old Primary Maxtor drive w hich is hanging from its power cord out the side of the computer.... I have tried everything. My XP CD *DOES* auto-run when inserted into the drive.... I just popped it in at the desktop and the XP Options appeared seconds later... Booting to this CD gets me nowhere.... it does some nvidia boot dealie, detects my network settings, lists my IP address and then, nothing.... it just sits there. I've tried all boot device combinations. Floppy CDROM CDROM Floppy CDROM Disabled CDROM Floppy Disabled None of them work. The Array appears fine.. the RAID bios section appears after the detection of IDE drives section of the posting and detects the 2-disk array as functional... the CD fails to boot. No problem... I go to microsoft and download the file needed to create the 6-disk XP Pro boot package... I make these 6 setup disks, insert the first one, reboot..... I get the following error. BIOSINFO.INF cannot be found Error 4096 Press any key to reboot. Is it the motherboard? Is it my XP CD? It auto-loads and has all normal XP Info... I cleared the CMOS and tried the floppy boot again and nothing... Im just a little ticked off. Im going to bed. I need rest and clarity. | ||

| Don't know if this will help but try setting the boot sequence to: CDROM SCSI Disabled I also had a problem installing on a machine I had with an Nvidia video card. The only way I could get windows to install was to swap out the video card for and old Voodoo card I had laying around. | ||

I've got an ATI 9800 Pro in this machine. the nvidia boot stuff is most likley coming from the motherboard (nf2 Ultra 400 chipset). Then, when I tried to boot from the 6 disk XP package you can DL from the web, i get an error like "BIOSINFO.INF cannot be found, error 4096" whatever that means. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
