Default Harddrive isn't detected

After I sleeved my PSU, my computer won't boot because it can't detect the HDD (in the IDE1). It skips the first boot step and goes straight to trying to boot from CD. Whenever I try to set the primary boot device in the BIOS, it can't detect my HDD. I've tried 3 different IDE cables, 2 old one brand new, none of which worked which leads me to believe it's the power. I've tried rearranging the wires in the molexs over and over and nothing works. Help?

you rearanged the wires in the molex...... if im not mistakin you just fried your hard drive. you should ALWAYS make sure when sleavin that you put them back in the right order yellow on the right 2 blacks in teh middle and red on the left. provided you mounted ur hard drive right side up.

Probably toasted due to faulty rewiring.

You can go ahead and make a last ditch effort by trying another PSU but I heavily doubt your HDD lived.

Always double check wiring, ensure that you expanded the molex barbs after removing them as they tend to FALL OUT OF THE CONNECTOR LATER ON if you do not, and always test each connector on something you can afford to loose like an old CDROM (or just know PSU wiring like the back of your hand, like me. )

There's a joke in there somewhere...I just can't find it.....

Yeah, you more than likely toasted it if it was one that you were using before you sleeved your PSU. If it's a brand new one, might want to check the jumpers 'cause sometimes they aren't set correctly from the factory. However, it would probably toast now since you changed molex wiring around.

Better luck next time.
