Well sounds like a pretty common virus type.. i dont know why Norton wouldnt find it.. but go to Yahoo and search for online virus scan... there are a couple free ones that arent too bad, and HOPEFULLY it will find it. I will look and see if i can find out anymore

As for online virus scanners... I use "Housecall"
It has always done me well.

luckily ive never had an address book, but is there someway to figure out what file it is sending to these ppl, do a search of your hard drives for it....

i know im gonna get into hot water for saying this so ill phrase it carefully, i downloaded this "random number letter key generator" and it was of a little cat logo, i immediately knew what it was (my norton didnt get it either) and i found out the last time it was accesed, did a search for files by date/time, i found about 50 40k files all the same, but with names like britney nude, warcraft cdkey, unreal cd key, etc etc

i deleted em all, no problems since, hope this helps

Kenny, my friend recently downloaded that virus onto my computer at the last LAN party. It's called the Supernova or Hello Kitty (The icons) virus. That kitty is pretty evil Actually, the virus itself does nothing other than propogate around Kazaa. The reason I found it was because I was trying to do something in the registry via RegEdit and upon looking at the startup registry keys I found a key called Supernova with a directory of C:\Windows\System\blahhh.exe or something similar to that. But it actually said blah.exe Now being as I have nothing called Supernova on my computer and blah.exe isn't anything too profesional, I immediately did a search on Yahoo and found it was a propogating virus. Just minute before ending my friends life, I found out it did nothing, so I spared him . Removal was basically just deleting everything also, but I had to do some searching/research to get rid of them all.

Basically, DW, you're gonna wanna either find a virus scanner to get that little bug, or research WHAT it does, where and how it works on your computer, and remove it yourself. I'm not terribly happy with virus scanners other than picking up one for me. Even if I remove it, I usually rebuild shortly after (Depending on the virus) just to be sure. Don't worry, I'm not dumb enough to get a virus myself via attachments nor downloads (Only one, but I had no chance, it was Chernoble(CIH) and it physically destroyed my HDD and mobo). So if it sounds like I get tons of virii, I used to when I was young(er) and naive(r) That's why I know a little bit about gettin rid of em.
