Default Really need help advice

Well I started up my pc this morning and I get an error message that says windows cannot start because one of the files is missing or corrupt. I think it was c:\windows\config\system. Something like that. Well It tells me to enter the xp cd and restart then try to repair the problem. So I do that and it says it doesn not detect a hardrive. But when I restart the pc it it shows that its connected. I tired to formated it and it said invalid drive. so im stuck without my computer and using my dads to get help. Is there anyone out there that can help me out?

If you were any more blunt you'd be a numbskull brand steel-toe boot, son. Just kidding.

Swap IDE cables, ensure the jumper is on cable select if it is a single drive, and that it is on IDE1.
If the drive is not connected to an onboard IDE header, you will need to load drivers for the card it is
connected to by toggling F6 when you boot to CD, and inserting the appropriate floppy driver disk.

It looks like it lost the driver file for your SATA drive (Your system was probalby pre loaded with it installed, I am gussing you have never formatted it)

You have to reload it manually, since you can't do it inside of windows like updateing a normal IDE drive.

You have to press F-6 during windows install, it will then later prompt you to insert a floppy with the proper drivers

...meaning: "they do not need drivers for normal operation under Windows. They do, however, need drivers to be recognized on hardware level for Windows installation. Now, where you get the drivers depends on you motherboard. Look up the SATA controller's manufacturer and check their website.

The exact model of your SATA controller. From the second picture you attached I can see that your controller was manufactured by Silicon Image (See the first line? (c)2000-2003 Silicon Image...?) What you need is the number.

Dude... I cannot say this any more clearly. You don't need a drive for the hard drive. You need a driver for the SATA controller.

I need to know what it says at the top of the screen (the line that's cut off by the top of the frame, or the one before it... not really sure.)

Here's the driver you need. Unzip to a floppy disk, run windows installation, press F6 when prompted. Once the installer finished loading drivers it's gonna ask you for additional RAID driver. Insert the floppy, follow instructions, and the drive should be detected without problems.

It's supposed to be this way. First the installer needs to finish loading its own drivers, then it's gonna ask you for 3rd party ones.
