| I have a crapppy PSU that came with my case. Im using a Asus P4P800 mobo and it cam wtih asusprobe and when i check the voltages the 3.3rail is at about 3 and and at load its at about 2.8. y computer also randomly freezes usually right after i log in into windows. Then my monitor sometimes goes in and out of stand by and keeps doing it till i hit the reset button. This probably happens from my video card losing power(it has external power) 1. Are tha volrages from asus probe right or do i have to take a voltmeter to it? 2. Would the power supply make my computer freeze randomly if the rails arent stable. Thanks in advance. PS if you need more info(specs, probs) just ask. | ||

1.Always check with a voltmeter to be sure, you can then calibrate the probe... 2. YES!, unstable rails can do all sorts of weird things to a PC | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| What Zennz said - the best equipment in the world is going to do you no good with a crap power supply. Replace that crap with something decent straight away, worst case scenerio is when your turd of a PSU goes it will take all your equipment with it. Ive seen it happen, its not that uncommon. | ||

| Like ZENN said, take a Multimeter to the rails (12v and 5v can be found on a molex plug, make sure to use the black ground wires too though, doesn't matter which one you use). the 3.3v rail can be measured off the AUX plug I believe or the 20 or 24-pin main power connector. I cant think of or find the right wire offhand but google it or just search here in the forums cuz it ought be posted somewhere. yea, rails can do crazy jazz like that. If your looking for a new PSU Enermax, OCZ and Antec all make good units. The FSP-530w made by both Fotron and Sparkle and those compaines 550w models (you need a 24 pin to 20 pin adapter for the 550w model) are VERY nice for the money. PC Power and Cooling makes arguably the best PSU/'s out there. TTGI Super Flowers (550w) are also a good PSU for $80 (www.svc.com) and finally the X-Connect PSU's are getting good reviews everywhere I look | ||

| Whats a good Enermax psu thats under 80 dollars. More weird stuff. In the asus probe my fan speeds either drop randomly or jump randomly(of course prolly the power supply. I need the psu to run Asus P4P800 P4 2.6 800 fsb 2 Hdds Geforce FX5900xt(external powere needed) about 6 case fans CCFL's CDRW and DVD rom I think that just about covers it | ||
