doom 3 help!

I just bought doom 3 today and it works fine. Only its realy dark even with all the settings turned up. Its even hard to see in some areas. do you have any idea how to fix my doom 3 problem?

Thats the way the game is...Its almost dark 100% of the time. Try hitting F to use your flashlight.

thats y a lot of ppl hate it, cause u cant see a f'ing thing, it makes from some thrilling parts, but mostly annoying. U can get a mod that adds a flashligh to the bottom of all ur guns.

What are you smoking? People don't hate D3 because it's dark, It's a completely
intentional part of the environment that raises the fear factor of the entire game.

Go pump up your gamma and play it pussy style, n00b.

maybe it takes more than 3 hours of playing to get to the scary parts..I jumped a few times because I was looking one direction when a zombie/monster was nawing on my back...is that the parts yall are talking about? I found "The Suffering" to be scrier than this D3 is. Maybe it's the fact I was raised on horror movies and SCI-FI

I thought doom 3 was a rather enjoyable experience. i just beat the game yesterday and i really enjoyed it.
the only part in the game that really spooked me out was when the voice said, "come here" . i folowed it and heard "over here", so i kept following the voice and the room turned completely red lik blood and i heard a baby cryin. so... uhhh. ya.......

the game was pretty dark in most areas but light in others

over all i would give Doom 3 a 8 out of 10

Yes it is a reason why a lot of people hate D3 go read the consumer reviews.

if you really cant stand having the no-wepon-no-flashlight rule, you should look into a number of mods.
duct tape mod is a decent one.
and theres a ton more but your just gonna have to look into em.
i personally enjoy the games intense atmosphere.
i love jumping and being scared out of my mind from a game.
but those damn voices, omfg, i could't take that, i was freaked out following them, but for the plasma rifle, i would do anything.

Personally I find the switching between the flashlight and gun annoying as hell. To the point of walking away from the damn game after a while.
IF you guys have a suggestion like the mod its better if you link it.
It's a much better help to know what and where and even how.

they do have a mod that allows you to have a flashlight WITH your gun!

DW do a search in the forums.... Its around here somewhere!

This isnt the file I use which gives light to all wepaons except BFG, Chain, and Rocket launcher but this one should be better nontheless as it give flashlight to all weapons.

Well file is to big any other way I can get it to you if you want it ??

I got a bit annoyed with the flashlight as well. Seemed it always took to long to switch having to search left handed for it. Not to mention hindering mobility in tight spots. Since I always map the jump and crouch functions to my mouse's thumb buttons anyway, I mapped the flashlight to right click on the mouse. MUCH faster and more natural.

Unrelated to the original question but not completely off topic. Using the cheat code "give doom95" is supposed to load the original version of doom, however it does not work for me. Has anyone else tried this?

Think about it. I'd be willing to wager that iD Studios took some time and long, deliberate planning to make this game as suspenseful and frightening as possible (although Silent Hill 4 is still much worse in my book. But I digress...). The burden of flashlight OR weapon is an intentional factor to make it harder and more disconcerting.
But fine. If you wanna get that duct tape mod to save yourself a few skipped heartbeats, go ahead. As for me, I'll take my Doom 3 black. No sugar or cream, thank you.
