| So I just got my brand new parallel lcd in the mail. I wired it up, (2 times, actually) with the exact same results. I got the idea from HERE. I have that exact same LCD and everything is wired exactly to the schematics there. It lights up with the first and third lines like it's supposed to. The problem is, I can't get any software to communicate with it. I'd hate to have spent 30 bucks for nothin! Anyone got any ideas as to what the problem could be?? | ||

| Well, too bad I didnt have more time when you came we could have went over it. Anyway, did you install DLPort I/O? What software are you using? Did you make sure that your connections were right? I would reccomend using JaLCDs as the control app, much more capable than others. http://www.jalcds.de/ It also allows the use of BlinkenLights animations, and you can make your own. | ||

| Yeah I have it installed DLPortIO...but I really don't know what else I'm supposed to do with it. =\ I have that other software installed too, I've checked and double-checked the connections, and I'm almost 100% sure that everything is connected to the right place. | ||

Did you have a spec sheet with connections to the LCD, some differ? You dont need to do anything with DLport I/O, just install it. Are you sure your cable is good? Did you configure the app for the correct LPT port? Try chanching the parallel port mode in the BIOS if you are sure everything else is OK. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Use a multimeter set to measure continuity and check to make sure you have all the wires from the port connector going to the right place on the LCD module. Chek EIO and see if they have the data sheet for it, they should, and compare it with the schematics to make sure the various I/O lines are in the right spot. EDIT: Also I have found that it is best to use a male/female DB15 connector close to the LCD so you can disconnect it from the cable when needed. | not yet, I've been hella busy with class and trying to keep things sorted out with work and school. Hopefully this weekend I'll have some time to wind down...(except for tomorrow, 9:30am to 8pm...work...meh, oh well, it pays the bills.) I'm going to try it on a windows 98 machine sometime...tonight probably. | ||
