No help yet?
Well I was able to set the drive up so that the paticular user simply cannot access the harddrive. When they try it pops up "access denied". But I know you can put up a password I just dont know how.
If anyone wonders or cares as to how I blocked the harddrive this is how.
First start in control panel and go to folder options. Click the view tab and go all the way to the bottom and uncheck "use simple file sharing". Then click apply. Then you will notice a sh!t load of new things when you right click on a harddrive or folder under sharing and security. From there I just took access away from all non administrative user.

Is this from a Local PC perspective or Network sharing? I'm a little confused.

For example, do you ahve more then one person using a PC, and you want to keep info private?

Or do you ahve a PC on the network that you don't want anyone accessing your data?

I can probably help on the network side. Not to sure on a Local Pc issue.

The only thing I've done is to use an encryption programto tottally encrypt an HD. I did this on a laptop to prevent data from being viewed in the event it was lost or stolen.

Its on a local pc. But what I did will suffice for now. Private info is blocked to the only user I did not want to see it.

Sweet. So how did you do it?

Did you use XP's built in profile to control access?
