Default CD-RW Drive..again.

Hey, I asked about the IDE cables and such about a week ago...now I have a new problem. I replaced the old IDE cable and put the new one in and now, whenever I try to burn a CD, it slows the entire system down to a crawl. Before I replaced them, I could play games, and surf the internet while I was burning and never made a coaster.

Me replacing the IDe cable on the drives is the only thing that I can think of that would do that...but why? And does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks.

Hmm, ok do you have the burner on the same IDE cable as the hard drive? If so, I'd take it off. I always have my cd-rom drives on the secondary IDE channel, the hard drives on the primary and floppy in the floppy. Also, make sure that the IDE cables are not like UDMA66. Most likely you've got a motherboard that supports at least UDMA100, maybe even UDMA133. If removing the burner from the same channel as the hard drive or if it was never there in the first place, then your best bet may be to grab some IDE UDMA66/100/133 cables.

Default Still does it..

I even went to the legnths of formatting my computer. It worked before. I went to install SOF2 as a test, and once again, everything was all choppy. I couldn't even play sound without choppiness. I tried switching IDE cable's again, but it didn't work. (actually, my computer didn't even recognize the drives) Why would broken IDE cables work better than Fully Functional IDE cables?

Anymore suggestions?

It's an LG 16x10x40..it's about 9 months old. The motherboard is an FIC ad11.

Does that help at all?
