| Apex Techie I | Can you remove NTFS permissions from a hdd when the OS that created them no longer functions? to be more paticular I am running xp home when I boot into safe mode and try to take ownership of the files nothing happens Last edited by Slaymate; 24-October-09 at 06:01 PM.. | |

there are two ways to access the files. boot from a linux live cd like knoppix and copy the files or 2 take ownership/ go to disk managment (start >> control panel >> administrative tools >> computer management) Right click on the drive letter that windows assigned it and click properties. then go to the security tab and click the "advanced" button Click on the owners tab and then click edit to change it.
