Default Upgrading Dell Memory

I remember that back in the day, some parts would be Tattoo'd. Does that still go on today? Because I'm wanting to upgrade a Dell computer with RAM and just wanted to make sure that I can purchase another brand other than Dell's ram. Thanks.

Yes you can, just make sure it is compatible memory...you know speed, latency bla bla bla. I usually like to by a matching set and just replace the memory in the laptop.
