Default Opera Pimps

I really like opera browser
using version 7.23
but I'm having a little problem.

when I goto alot of pages (especially on PR) it loads a tiny bit of a page and then stops for about 5 - 10 seconds and then continues to load the page.

here is a quick shot of what I mean

just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this :\
or if its happening to you too

In IE, it takes a while to load a page and I get the blank screen almost just like that. I'm thinking it's because of the crap load of ads that need to load...it was never this slow when PR2.0 was first released

well, I dunno... I mean if that was what is happening, then wouldn't the kb/s bar be moving or the page % or image # be moving indicating that things are being downloaded and etc...

the whole bar just freezes completely except for the time. the time just goes up and up for 5 - 10 seconds then everything starts moving again

( I also just noticed that the smilies dont fit on the screen, but i dont really care about that )

I get a lot of that ... but they don't continue loading after the stall; I have to "Stop" & "Reload". It comes in waves: it'll be no problem for a day or so, then I'll get the problem on _every_ page.

The other problem I have with is that if I have multiple pages open, my PC'll lock up solid & need a hard reset. It's intermittent though, & the number of pages vary too ... the problem happens most often when I've got 6 or more pages open, but sometimes it'll do it with one. I think it's more of a hardware issue than a problem with Opera.

opera, mozilla, mozilla firebird and so... works on a netscape enginelike... wich mean that the page open "faster" (in the firebird, REALY fast) becouse it open in parts, text first, then pictures, then plug-ins (flash, shokwave, jave etc.).... becouse of that it opens bit by bit.... the stops are probably becouse the part that opens at the moment is slow.....
about IE browsers (like explorer, avant and so on) the page opens at ones, no matter pics, text, plug-ins etc. ...
this site is very "heavy" (as said) and becouse it have to load alot of stuff it's a bit slow, but still it's faster then the first version, PR v.2.0 is great for now.... let's give it a bit chance

if you want a fast and operalike browser i can recommend the mozilla firebird (it also have a opera 7 skin to look like it ), but for security it's not that good, the big-ones (IE, netscape, opera) are better with security issues....

hope i had'nt wrote to much BS

Opera isn't based on netscape as far as I know. Its been around for years, when Netscape was a major player in the browser wars.

Also, I have a minium of 10 pages open in Opera, no crashes or lockups. And sometimes with PR, takes a couple of seconds before it loads some pages. Other sites, I do what Jonny does, stop & reload. So give that a shot. Oh, also using Opera 7.23

i did'nt said that opera is build from the netscape engine, just that it works like a netscape engine... the uploading of the page (enginelike).

but for one that does'nt use opera oftenly (me ), i leave the mejor advice for you (and jonny english) , i'm sure you know better... i'm just saying what i learned. so, just stop & reload
