Default Memory Problem

Around August I bought new ram, I thought it was a stick of Kingston 512 pc3500. Today in CPU-z I noticed that I have pc3200 but I don't have the receipt and it has been quite some time since I got it, so I think I am out of luck. D: does anyone have any suggestions for what I could do?

Try to run it async to your FSB by overclocking it to 217MHz on the rated timings. If you can boot and have stability, it is truly PC3500. Won't do much good as syncronous operation is the only way to go on an AMD setup.

Well I dont think you can do anything right now...you waited to long..you could try callin the place you bought it from but its going to be very difficult to get them to take it back. Where did you buy it from? Also you sure maybe cpu-z read the memory wrong? Have your tried checkin the memory using a dif prog?

On the other hand they might have given you the wrong ram but also they could just say you swapped the ram but...I dont know its really a mess heh.

I have yet to try a new program, could suggest one? Also since my mobo really sucks I can't change the multiplier so I can't turn the bus up to 217 and even boot.

I just looked on the cpu-z website and looked under the faq section for the cpu-z..here is what I found...
Q: Why does CPU-Z misreport my memory module specification ? For example, my DDR PC3500 is reported as PC3200.

A: The SDR and DDR theorical bandwidth is computed using the module access time information for the maximal CAS# latency value, included in the SPD area. If the computed bandwidth is lower than the one specified on the memory module, that means in most cases that the SPD information on the module is not correctly programmed, and does not mean that the memory module does not handle its specifications.

I think you do have pc3500..now all you need to do is change ur multi so you can run the fsb at 217 like Tex said..hope that helped.
