Sony Vaio wont shut down ??

Got a new one , for me anyhow ...........

Just did a fresh install of XP Pro on a sony Vaio FE-550G lappy , installed all drivers ( no "?" by any hardware) and updated XP to SP2. The thing works great until i go to shutdown, I click "shut down" and it hangs at the shutting down screen?????????

I can hit the power button to shut it off and it reboots fine , no asking to start normal or anything.

Any ideals from you Vaio owners or folks that love lappy's ??

Go to bank and withdraw about $7K.

Go buy one of these.

Set laptop down range and be sure to wear eye/ear protection.

Zero in as appropriate.

Send laptop back to Fony to show them what a piece of crap it is.

My moms HP desktop does that on Vista
Ill click Shut Down and turn off the monitor
The next morning I turn the monitor back on and its still shutting down

For all you Vaio owners and even HP dv6000 sreies owners , I found the fix .

If your installing XP Pro , you'll need to find the hotfix for these lappy's to fix the shutdown problem and on both sites its labeled software update and doesnt say anything about fixing anything

but it does fix the problem and doesnt seem to cause any conflicts with anything i've run so far such as CAD , Nero, Office, Fruitloops , Solidworks , Power Iso , and various other programs .

just some genral info that may help some other MORONS.......errr ......Laptop owners
