Default Linksys game adapter with xbox 360 help

Hey all
I have a linksys game adapter I am using for 360. I also have a linksys wireless roouter. The adapter plugs into the xbox by ethernet and when I try to connect to my network I have to disabled wep key for it to find it. Being that its not an xbox adapter, xbox thinks its hard wired, so i`m not sure how to set it up so the router lets its connect with a wep key enabled. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

The xbox360 doesn't support WEP2, only WPA and WEP, but it may have been fixed since i read that.
  1. "System -> Network Settings -> Edit Settings."
  2. Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there.
  3. Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.

hello mate not sure if you have managed to solve this problem but i have a solution for you

you cannot configure the wireless game adapter through the xbox as it only sees the ethernet connection.

you have to connect the game adapter to a pc via ethernet and use the cd rom supplied to configure your wireless settings i.e. ssid and wep/wpa key

if you have not got your cd this is how you manually edit settings

before you start make sure your ethernet card is enabled to do so click start, run type devmgmt.msc hit enter and look for network adapters if you see any red crosses or a yellow circle with an exclamation mark let me know and i will help you resolve this problem if you dont see any problems continue to the next step

to configure settings of game adapter you need to enter its ip address into the address bar of your internet browser, then you will see what appears to be a website. this is the configuration page and should be self explanitory if not ask me for help

to get your game adapters ip address you need to click start, click run, type cmd, hit enter.
this will load a black screen with a flashing dot
then type without quotes "ipconfig" and look for local area connection, under this section it will say ip adress, subnet mask and default gateway

write down the ip address which will be a string of numbers and dots looking like this 192.168.0.5 or 192.168.1.2 however your numbers may be different

change the number (may be up to 3 digits)after the last dot to 1
so in this example
192.168.0.5 becomes 192.168.0.1
and
192.168.1.2 becomes 192.168.1.1

the resulting number is the ip address of your game adapter
