| Yesterday morning I went out for my second driving test (it's cool, hardly any pass their first test). I know I was ready, and had a literally perfect test, until I reached a roundabout where there was a long traffic jam, no probs. Was my turn to cross the roundabout, when during me crossing it, the tester told me to drive faster, and he used the accelerator. Now, just as he was doing this, I had the clutch down ready to go into second gear, therefor he didn't actually do anything with the car, and life went on... Later on that day my instructor told me I failed, and the tester wrote he accelerated and "saved" us from an accident, which as I explained just before ,is total bull****. Anyhow, I wouldn't even mind doing 50 tests, but thing is, here every driving lesson costs around 13 quid, and the test costs about 50 quid. I feel like a leech taking the money from my parents who keep telling me not to worry about the money, but it's ruined my whole weekend, thinking I'm screwing my parents off with money that some bitches in the government want from innocent driving students. | ||

| There's a lot of that kind of attitude with driving testers world wide, it seems. My wife had to go back to take her test because the first tester just took an immediate disliking to her based on her looks (nothing racial . . . she just hated that my wife was 'thin and pretty'). Told her to go down the wrong way on the drivers course, which my wife did because, hey, you're supposed to FOLLOW those instructions, right? Did the course perfectly, but at the end, just before they headed back to the building, the instructor ripped her a new one for following instructions. Needless to say, when she came back, she made DAMNED sure she got a different tester. In my case, it wasn't the instructors fault for anything other than just being there. The first tester radiated this feeling of 'Don't Mess with me, boy!' and combined with being exhausted on the morning of the test, I blew straight through a stop sign. All my bad, I admit, but his attitude didn't help any. Second test, the tester was nice and laid back, hell of a fun guy to talk to. That extra touch of relaxation was all I needed, and I aced the test. My suggestion is to make sure you are totally in the zone before you go again . . . Relax to some good music before hand, mentally go through the entire thing . . . That way if the guy tries to screw with you again, you can just keep calm and maintain full control over the vehicle. d | ||
