Default Resolution Troubles

Ok, so I just bought this Dell Trinitron 21'' perfect flat monitor, and I thought I might take a step up from 1024x768 res that I used on my old 17". First I went to 1280x1024, and that worked fine. But I wanted that extra push and set it to 1600x1200. Now I can't view the whole screen at once. I have to move the mouse to the sides to uncover the rest. It's like the size of everything is the same, but the screen just got bigger. This is probably common knowledge, but can anyone help me?

Have you tried adjusting the screen size on the Monitor itself?
It usually gets smaller at High Res, but who knows...try it

there is a button on the face of your monitor that autoadjusts the screen. Just press that and it will adjust itself. What model do you have? p1100? If you can suply me with that info i can tell you exactly where it is. It should be the button furthest to the left of the screen..

No prob. That is an awsome monitor. With mine from compaq i am able to hit 2048x1536. I keep mine around 1280x10254 at 85 to 100 hz or 1600 x 1200 at 85hz. Awsome capabilities..
