I just installed a dual core AMD chip, and after a RAM swap and a couple of optical drives later, eveything is good. Untill I try to install Counter Strike. It installs just fine. when I start it, it just sits at the loading page, no options to play or anything. Any ideas?

The puter is updated, I have tried it with the folding program running and with the service paused, same result.

Any ideas?

Are you using Steam? Try re-installing it.

Hmm... did you install the Microsoft Windows Dual-core patch (which doesn't automatically install) and AMD drivers for your proc? My Counter-strike always loaded, but I noticed mine would play jittery without the patches and drivers. PM and I could probably email you the stuff.

Thanks for the info, will follow up on it, but I think I may have a damaged CD. Far Cry instaled and played just fine.

I will have to try to polish the scratches out of the cd and see what it does.

yea install the AMD dual-core optimizer and totally exit out of F@H I have a Athlon 64 X2 and i can't play any games while F@H is on

Nothing. I got the dual core optimizer thing last night, Far Cry works, Couter Strike does not.

if you still think you have a damaged cd you can just open steam and if it says you have the game installed just do the check for damaged files sort of option they have, you can also uninstall the game and let it just download off steam.

Have you tried setting the affinity of the CS process to only one core? It's done through the task manager process tab (right click and select affinity and deselect one).

@deere did not know I could download it, will look into that, the CS source game I got is apparently online multiplayer only, I like getting killed offline so nobody can laugh...

@Spanky Far Cry and CS Source run fine with the console folding running. I tried CS condition Zero with folding on and off, no luck.

@Jobister, yep went to AMD's site and got the optimiser thing. No noticeable difference.

@ratchetfps Steam reinstalled today with the game I bought, lucky for me I actually printed the infor from my original CS game, so I had my info.

Thanks a lot for the info. All the posts were great advice. I do think the problem is fixed with another optical drive, all seems well, but a few of the things here I will definantly look into.

Hey no problem. Yeah, CS Source is exclusively online, but you could start a listen server and play against bots if you want to. If my CS Source servers weren't LAN-only, I'd invite you to play.

Just an update. Seems like all is well now. Far Cry now runs with the console version of FAH, Counter Strike Condition Zero is downloading slowly from Steam... Along with a whole lot of other stuff Steam decided I needed. Oh well.

I got my defective Crucilal Balistix sent off to RMA land yesterday, all should be well in a week or so.
