Exclamation My Baby Died!!!

okay, so recently since this weekend when i installed some new fans, a fanbus, cleaned up my wiring, insalled a back panel, and OC'd my video card my computer has been randomly freezing, and nut just, a few seconds, things go slow, it freezes, DEAD, nothing, everyhting on the monitor just stops moving, nothing registers, HD stops, CPU stop (to my knjhowedge) and so i reboot, and the first few times, i get it going again, no problem, and its all gravy until it happens again (not very often) so then last night, it freezes, i'm pissed as hell, so i reboot, get as far as mem. checks, and it freezes, i reboot, no video output, i reboot again, nothing, i turn her off, and on, nothing comming out of vid card, but all the lights and fans still on, but then, the whole box just shuts down, fans lights, power, gone. i'm pissed. It wont turn on, so i turn the power suply on and off, and try again, it turns on, nothing on the screen. so thouroughly pissed, i take it apart, make sure everyhting is in there good, check conections, reset the VGA adapter, leave the case off amd try to turn it on, it get past the bios, but windows doesnt load. i keep trying prom persistence, adn fianly it boots, and i'm thinking, maybe it my video card overheating, cause i had been getting artifacts when gamming it was up so high, and hadnt bothered to turn it down yet, so i hold ctrl when i boot into windows, in order to disable coolbits, so that it wouldn't clock itselft too high, and she boots, goes into windows, i check coolbits, its back down to regular speed, so i go surf around, chat, whatever, and then within 5 minutes it freezes again, i reboot, it doesnt work, i try a few things, (i've since put it back together) i reset the VGA connector, nothing, and i figure i'll let it sit overnight, i turn of the power supply and i go to bed

this morning, i woke it up, turn it on, and it gets nowhere, the VGA bios loaded twice, but otherwise it was just a black screen

SO, what could be my problem:

1. I fried my GPU and using it last night, even on stock speed was enough to kill it.

2. I straped a 80mm fan onto my graphics card for cooling, and this is somehow screwing with the card. (the way its strapped on i could not use the stock fan that is built into the heatsink so i disconected it, could the be making the performance worse? and or be my problem?) (this pic may help http://us.st7.yimg.com/store1.yimg.c...1766_281773793 )

3. I have a craptastic power suply, its a "herculese" 400w max power supply, i picked it up for 13 bcks cause it was cheaper than getting an adapter for my generic 300w + the shipping and with the addition of the fanbus and some larger fans than i had before it is more than my power supply can take, and i run out of juice.

4. somehting else? my motherboard? (see signature)

thanks for any help you can give, i'm deperate!

Hrmm..well it does sound like its something with ur card...shouldnt be ocin it to the point of artifacts heh...if you have another comp try puttin that card in it and see if it runs fine...also if thi is your resolution...2048x1536...then cot damn!...maybe that could have helped mess up your card..try lowerin that and underclocking your card..also get the nwewest drivers for that and update your bios...When I thought my card was dieing it was actually the psu that was dieing and I wasent gettin enough power...if you have another psu plug that in and see because ur card might not be gettin enough juice...try what I said and let me know what happens...hopefully it works out.

yeah, if it is the OCing or the resolution (which has actually been at 1600x1200 since i got win xp, and since i've had any problems, i realized that there was no way to get a walpaper not homade for a resolution that size, but i could play UT2003, chat and surf without switching windows) but if it is the OCing, that can not be fixed, cause i turned it off, i have the latest drivers, i had some simaler trouble and that fixed it at the time, but otherwise i have had no problems with that resolution at all, just with the card OC'd and windows xp, but as soon as i got some new fans, (4 80mm antecs 1 80mm quietek in the power suply (not the stock fan), and my new aeroflo.) i am aslo running a vantec fan bus, 2 hard drive, 1 cd and my cpu (duh) there no extra power connector fot the GPU BTW. I'll try and hook up my duron system tonight, or i could just throw the TNT2 into the P4, but we'll see how it goes, as for updating the BIOS i check MSI's site awhile ago, and the only BIOS updates are for some LAN compatibily updates, nothing that would effect me, plus there is no way to update the bios, i dont even get a POST as far as i can tell cause the monitor never get a signal.

Well see if it posts and runs fine with a dif card...and if you can try to test the card you have now in a dif computer...I still think its the card gettin oced too much but it could be ur psu or even ram.

hmm... i just hope that its not the card, cause that means i gotta throw some 170 down the drain getting something ASAP, instead of saving up for something better like i was planning, though a 9600pro would be a GREAT improvement

w00t yeah! okay, so i took out the 5600, and threw in the TNT, nothing (probly not the video card) then i threw the 5600 into the duron, CERTAINLY not the vid card, ran great, still can do UT2003 demo on full graphics w/ a freaking duron, so, then i checked the power suply from my P4 sys on my AMD sys (the psu on the AMD sys in not P4 ready) and the psu was fine, but i noticed when removing the ATX connector from my motherboard (on the P4) that it was a little loose, so when i hooked it back up, i made sure it was snug and clicked, so i did that, threw an HD in real quick and she boots fine.... in fact i'm still on that boot, but i do think that i still need a new psu, because the computer turned on earlier this week, so the connector probly just wiggled its way too loose, but i still got the freezing problems.... freezing problems i didnt get before i OC'd a few more mhz (which would take more voltage) and freezing problems just like the ones HMCK4 got and posted here.... so now i will just lower my OC and be happy for now, and look into a new psu for later OCing this would also explain why my cpu core voltage never got any higher when i was OCing, and there for why i wasnt able to get 100mhz stably out of a freaking 2.4c (though i dont expect too much from my motherboard)

those cursed loose connectors have gotten me before too. I have a 430w enermax, and the 12v connectors for the hds like to wiggle loose to the point where it wont recognize the drive.

yeah, but even worse, i was hooking up my second system, and i had a molex in my HD, but the molex was a passthough from a fan that was unplugged, i tried 4 different IDE cables before i realized that
