| The light the is inside of the laptop probably burnt out. That would really suck. Try this: have them turn it on and shine a flashlight or other high intensity light on it. If you can see the desktop faintly, its probably the light. With my old laptop you could always see the desktop and whatever software i was running if you held it at the rightr angle with a light on it. If you cant see it, your screen might have died or something. Check out ebay for replacements. | ||

| Okay... I've worked on a few laptops... First thing you can try: Take that bad-boy apart... the display connects to the logic board via a little ribbon cable. Make sure it's plugged in snug. Second (and the most likely). The graphics portions of Logic boards are fairly weak. I replaced a crapload of laptops that the graphics chip died on (most of the standard OEM laptops still have the graphics on the board... it goes down, the enitre board is shot 'cause you can't replace just that one thing unless you can find a replacement chip... and that's easier said than done, and you'd need to be pretty handy with a soldering iron). Now then, if you're looking to find out if something else is wrong, you should have a monitor "out" that you can plug into to test it out... Good luck with it! | ||

| Apex Tech Fanatic | IF there is greasy liquid around the screen then the screen is cracked somwhere and the Liquid Crystal solution has leaked out, thus it is useless. Someone must have dropped or squashed your laptop at some point in time. Good luck spending $1000+ to get it repaired. My VAIO PCG-F630 had that happen once and it costs $1300 to replace the screen. | |

| Swan, I wouldn't suggest tasting it... AMD: Yeah, when-ever a laptop came in with ONLY the display messed up, it kind of sucked to tell them it'd cost $1200.00 to fix their $900.00 laptop... Even going through a part salvager, our cost (repair place) was something like 800+shipping, and we had to send them the screen being replaced or it was an additional $400.00 charge. | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Hey, I've got myself a similar problem that I've been dealing with for a while. My laptop screen stopped working one day. First it would work at a certain angle, and now it doesn't work at all. During certain times, I can see the screen with all my programs open, etc, but very faintly. I've got a PC monitor hooked up to it now. It works just fine that way, but its a real inconvenience! I really wanna be able to pick up my laptop and take it around with me. Is my problem also the light?? Do I have to replace it as well? I'd appreciate Any help I can get please!!! Thanks!! | |

| First off the laptop model number you gave us is bogus. I cant find it on any search engine. Binde83, It would be best if you started your own thread with your laptop problem. If i didnt stumble onto this thread i wouldnt have seen your call for help. This way you'll get more exposure to your problem and someone may have the answer your looking for......... Also when you create your own new thread....dont forget to add the make and model. Just like cars all latops arent the same...... | ||
