| My router took a **** so I built a backup router out of a PC. Specs are: P3 1ghz 512mb ram 10gb / 20gb Windows xp sp2 Well I noticed it would lock up sometimes, just freeze. It has never done this ever, until I set it up for router usage. I turned off Folding on it to relieve the processor and allow more resources dedicated to networking. There are 13 sometimes 15 (2 laptops) computers behind it. Do I need more horsepower to handle the load or what? I have LOTS of power available, Athlon XP's, that dual P3 1ghz rig I found, etc. | ||

| it should handle it fine nessesarily the network transfer is what gonna hold you back the most. Get a gigbit card in there and you should be fine (providing you computers have the capabilities.) aren't have you computers borgs though? | ||

| K well apparently that was all I needed was more horsepower, so I threw in the P3 dualie and doubled the RAM now everything is kosher, and it looks fly as hell in Short Circuit v1.0 With the old setup the CPU was pegging at 100% but when I disconnected the uplink cable the CPU went down to 1 or 3%. Now with the extra chip it averages 50 to 60% usage between the two. Page file usage is down about 60mb though. | ||
