| What level of security do you need, are you connecting to the internet, and how big of a network are you building? What operating system(s) are you using, and what is the focus of the network? Anyway... just need some more info. In a short answer, yeah... it'll do the network thing... but more to the point, it may not be necessary to have static IP addressing. Usually private networks (home LANs, office LANs etc...) have IPs starting with 10.0.0.0, 172.16.0.0 or 192.168.0.0... so you should be good (in theory). | ||

| ADD: Unless your talking about solely the IP of the router itself... (which dawned on me after I hit "send") Then I'd change it for security... Just change the last digits (if it was 198.163.0.0... change it to something like 198.163.0.13 Also change the password. | ||

| If your running a wireless router be sure to change your damin account. I wnet war driving the other night for the first time and everyone I found still had the sysid set to linksys. And the ones that did have a password were all admin / admin the default. Basicly I could get into all of them with hacking skills needed. Good thing for them I was intrested in hacking them. | ||
