Post Need to know why hdd wont format?

Ok here's the problem.

I'm try'n to format a hdd and it wonÂ’t. It see's the partition it will delete the partion but not reformat it. I can't install pat this problem either??WTH.

Open for suggestions.

hrm, when i have probs with hd's i use linux to delete em.

This is the motherboard from BA. So I don't think that would be it. But I'll check.....................didn't find anything of the sort.

if you have partition magic try using that to blow out the partition and then use it to formatit in the file system if your choice....if you need PM8 let me know (pm me)

Find and download Delpart.exe, slap it on a boot disk and use that.

IF IT HAPPENS (sorry) to be a Maxtor of Quantum drive, download MaxBlast 3. Very simple and barebones formatting and partitioning tool. Fast and free.

It may work wilth other drives, but it is from the Maxtor website.

Try doing a low level format on the hard drive. Most drive manufacturers have a low level format utility on their website.
