Default Using A Regular Vocal Mic On PC ?

Hey I got a question i remember talking to a friend along time ago about buying a regular vocal mic
And he uses it on his computer, are there any jacks still available to purchase on the web? he has a mic something like this:

Could be wrong, but I don't think plugging that mic into a PC would give it enough power to operate properly. Can anyone confirm this?

if its a condenser mic you need a mic pre with phantom power. plus if its xlr you need a mic pre that can take a balanced signal. the cheapest route is an adapter you build or a cheap usb daw interface. if its a dynamic mic you can have an adapter take pin 2 to tip and 3 to ground but you have to have another adapter to keep mic power from your computer mic in from getting to the mic. the quick way would be trying xlr to 1/4 to 1/8 and it might work out

Wow, I just saw a video on some video site about how to solder and the guy used mic to xlr to demonstrate...

I really don't understand too well but are you talking about a adaptor like this?
