Really random problem?

Ok I live on the top floor of my house and so run a network cable up the outside, i've never had a problem before now with my connection but I just re-installed XP and have decided to run without all the bull sh*t updates from microsoft. But whenever I go to gamespot.com and try to watch a video it turns my network connection off and I get the message "A network cable is unplugged".
Someone please explain how a video can do this?

Sounds like a device conflict... hmm You check Device Manager to see if everything is working right?

Everything is fine except for my modem, but i never install that anyway.

I did recently install Hamachi which has installed a virtual network card so this may be causing it?
Although I have the problem if Hamachi is on or not.

are u on sp1 or sp2?? the drivers may be with sp2?! don't know it that helps atall??

SP2, I wouldn't leave myself that behind on updates. Yeah not sure what this is, but only seems to be from gamespot.com so I'll just download there vids before watching I guess.

Nah not a silly question, i'll take any suggestions people have, I never cease to be amazed by simple sollutions to most problems.

Hey reza!

Im not famaliar with that hamachi program you got running, but i certainly think it could be the reason your having problems. Id check your settings in this program. Since this is a vpn program it could be defaulted to use your modem that's not connected hence the network cable unplugged message.

A worst case senario would be to uninstall the program and see if it that solves the issue.

Hey rockin male,

Thanks for the help. I've found that disabling the VPN network network adaptor when hamachi is not on solves the problem.
